The Ruby class is a pre-school class with 5 members of staff and 25 children aged between 2 and 2 and a half. The emphasis is on teaching the children social skills and developing their language. Learning is made fun through songs and finger rhymes, dancing and games, and group activities such as messy painting and cooking. Activities such as play-dough, puzzles, threading and sand and water play are available on a daily basis, as are painting, arts and crafts and colouring.

There are also plenty of toys, ranging from building blocks and stacking cups to train sets and dolls houses There are lots of colourful and exciting books for the children to handle and enjoy, and they have story time at the end of each morning. There is a large, shaded outside play area for Ruby and Sapphire classes to enjoy, and they have a fun P.E. session once a week.

Imagination and creative skills are developed through dressing up, role-play in the home corner and dance and movement sessions. They enjoy songs and finger rhymes every day and experiment with a variety of musical instruments.
